 Isle of Wight Society events

Meetings of the members of the Society are open to all members and the public. The only condition is that members of the public may not vote on proposals put to such meetings.

4th Tuesday each month except August and December members meet at East Cowes Heritage Centre, 8, Clarence Road, at 7.30 pm

1st January Annual Subscriptions due

1st January Conservation Award Nomination application forms distributed. Projects should be completed by this date.

During the year The Executive have organised social events but there is no regular programme of events. The executive is open to suggestions from members.

 

The Historical Association Isle of Wight Branch

These meetings are held in Newport at the Riverside Centre on Wednesdays or 6th Form Campus, Orchard Street entrance (The old Seely building), on Thursdays, starting at 7.35 pm (doors open 7.10 pm ) phone 524410

  

Friends of Carisbrooke Castle Museum

Carisbrooke Castle Museum was set up by Princess Beatrice. It is run by an independent charitable trust and relies on fund-raising to carry out its functions. The museum is an independent organisation trapped within the castle that is run by English Heritage. The Friends were formed to support the Trust and promote the museum.

Meetings are held at the museum in the castle on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30 pm (The castle gates are open from 7.15 to 7.30 pm) phone 523112

 

Carisbrooke Castle Museum Study Days

These take place at the Castle. The charge includes admission to the castle so you may view the rest of the grounds before and after the presentation. Phone 523112 or info@carisbrookecastlemuseum.org.uk

 

Isle of Wight Family History Society

These meetings take place at the Riverside Centre on the first Monday of the month at 7.30 pm

Isle of Wight Branch of the World Ship Society

Branch meetings are held at the Riverside Centre on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7.00 pm. Guest membership is available. www.isleofwightwss.org.uk phone 292610

 

The Classic Boat Museum and Gallery, East Cowes

Talks and functions are held at both venues from time to time. The talks are generally given during the winter months. Contact the Museum on 290006 and the Gallery on 244101 between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm from Tuesday to Saturday.

  

Cowes Heritage

Annual short-term Exhibition held in the Autumn. 

Whippingham Community Association

Have a programme of illustrated talks during the winter. They are held at the Whippingham Community Hall, opposite the Forge in Alverston Road,  on the 4th Wednesday each month at 7.30 pm.
